Last Artcrawl of the Year--and you can win an original painting!

Here's the press release for the artcrawl coming up in October--I'm giving away an original watercolor pencil painting!

It's this one, "Autumn Lake, Ray County," originally done for my North Light book, Watercolor Pencil Magic.  Come by the shop and take a chance!

(There's a mini-demo on this painting on my art gallery blog, here, if you're interested in details.)

Last Artcrawl of the Year–and you can win!

Friday, October 8 marks the date for this year's final Art Crawl, with many exciting offerings throughout the downtown area.

Olde English Garden Shoppe is planning a very special windup for the year’s festive events, part of which is a drawing for an original watercolor pencil painting by artist Cathy Johnson.

You can stop by the shop any time from now until 8:00 p.m. on the 8th, when the drawing will take place–you don’t need to be there to win, but you DO have to have put your name and number into the pot.

Shop owners Ginger and Jim Nelson are pleased with the longterm relationship with Johnson and with Dr.  Polly Jaben; Johnson’s art, books, and jewelry are available at the shop as are Jaben’s evocative photos from England, Ireland, Scotland and America.

Dr. Jaben lived in Europe for some years, and sees details with clarity, affection and a true artist’s eye.  Johnson has lived in this area since the 1970s, and has written 35 books and countless magazine articles on art and nature; she paints the local landscape as well as scenes around town.

Olde English feels support for the arts is highly important, for Excelsior Springs and for our citizens; they’ve proven that over the past decade.  “We’re delighted with the unbelievable talent Polly and Cathy share with us,” says Ginger. “Cathy’s done art demos at nearly every Art Crawl, and Polly’s graciously told the stories behind her wonderful photographs.  We’re lucky to have both of them in our shop and in our community.”

Stop by Olde English Garden Shoppe at 115 E. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, for the last Art Crawl of 2010, have a glass of wine, listen to live music, talk to the artists, and take a chance on an original piece of art.
