Finally a new mini-demo on my gallery blog!

Hi all! It's been really busy lately (yes, some of it with playing and sketching), but I finally got a couple of new posts up on my gallery blog, including one of my mini-demos and a favorite plein air sketching technique. The mini-demo is one of my favorite paintings done for The Artist's Magazine some time ago...

I found a cache of paintings that I'd had in a show a while back--they're matted but not framed, so I decided to do some posts with those--watch for upcoming mini-demos, most of them will have that feature.

They're on my Cathy Johnson Fine Art Galleries site...the painting above is one that just WORKED for me--so much fun...

I like the idea of making original art available to all, so I put smaller works, unframed and often un-matted, on my gallery site.

Here, I don't have to worry about listing fees, utilities, co-op dues, commissions, overhead, entry fees or any of the other dozens of concerns for a working artist--it's a great way to market smaller pieces, direct to the buyer. I keep prices under $500 there, and usually quite a BIT under, offering sketches and ACEOs as well as small paintings. It's worked for me, and I've gotten a lot of positive feedback.

I've found that people really enjoy the mini-demos, as well--collectors like to know what you did and why, and other artists may benefit as well. Pop by and let me know what you think!
