Aslan at the Hall of Waters

Aslan at the Hall of Waters

I did a watercolor demonstration at our local Art Crawl Friday night, and was mostly pleased with the results. When I'm doing a demo I usually try to show a variety of techniques, and this was no exception! Click on the image to take you to my Flickr page, where there are LOTS of notes on the various effects.

This is one of the fountains at our 1930s Hall of Waters ("the world's longest mineral water bar"), an amazing building that attracts visitors and architects from all over the world.

Here are more details from a journal sketch done some years ago:

May 25, Hall of Waters

...and one of the outside of the building, another journal sketch from August of last year:

Hall of Waters

Gorgeous place, isn't it?

That water in the fountain looks so wet I can almost feel it!
Thank you, MissPrune, I was happy with that myself!
So, can you tell us more about your comment: "This is one of the fountains at our 1930s Hall of Waters ("the world's longest mineral water bar"), an amazing building that attracts visitors and architects from all over the world."

Here are a couple of links that tell it better than I could!

THERE he is!!

I see Aslan now! These are beautiful Kate! I love fountains!

Re: THERE he is!!

Isn't it odd it didn't show up on Facebook!? And thank you!
Well, my first comment bit the dust, so let's try again ;D. How delightful to come here and see your work after a long week and more. Your gorgeous fountain sketch is like an oasis---full of watery light and amazing textures!
Hi sweetie...no idea what's up with comments and mail and all, sorry! But thank you so much--coming from the fountain queen, that's wonderful!

Oh! This painting of the fountain is amazing!! You inspire me so much, I'm a beginner/intermediate in watercolors and some days I get so frustrated, today though: I'm inspired. Thank you!
I'm delighted that you liked it, and glad to help in any way I can!
