Art Tip #88, announcement letter

This one also bounced all over the place because of my email problems.  We don't seem to be able to solve them, so after many years with the same email address, I'm thinking of changing.  I can't take care of business this way!

Anyway, I still have LiveJournal and Facebook, so perhaps I can get the word out that way!

Tip #88 features Gabi Campanario, whose Urban Sketchers group blog, http://www.urbansketchers.com/, has taken off like a rocket!  (I'm delighted to be a member of that blog, it's addictive!)

If you blog, plan on starting one, or just enjoy seeing sketches from all over the world, don't miss this very special interview.

Gabi inspired my OWN new group blog for nature sketchers--read about it below.

You can find the current tip as always on my website, http://cathyjohnson.info at upper left.  It's also in PDF form at right once you open the art tip page, along with the archived tips from years past! Print them out, save them, share with a friend, whatever you want, that's
what they're there for!

MORE NEWS FROM GABI

Gabi's own blog has now moved to the Seattle Times!  What great news--sign on and follow him there for an intimate look at Seattle through the eyes of a dedicated sketcher. http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/seattlesketcher/

NEW CLASSES STARTING MAY 18!

If you've been waiting patiently, we're finally on schedule!  The largest waiting list is for the watercolor pencil class, so we'll be starting it up on Monday, May 18--other classes in drawing and sketching and watercolor to follow!

Check out information, registration, here: http://www.cathyjohnson.info/wcpencilclass.html, and past testimonials here:
http://www.cathyjohnson.info/info2.html

Discussion will take place here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/watercolorpencilworkshop/ so students will need to join that group to fully participate.  (We'll need the email address you plan on using, as well as your Yahoo and Flickr IDs for the spreadsheet.)

And we have a brand new Flickr group pool to share our work, assignments, suggestions, and critiques for the class--it's members-only, so only students will be invited, of course.  We've found it's the most convenient way to share, so I'll need to know your Flickr ID in order to invite you, or you can request membership if you like, once you're enrolled in the class!
It's here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/wcpencil2009/

SKETCHING IN NATURE

Our own new group blog, Sketching in Nature, has really taken off!  We have 20+ correspondents, now, and the quality of work has been outstanding! We're international, and seeing nature in different parts of the world is such a great learning experience.  You'll love it!

Field sketches, studies, observations, habitat sketches, birds, flowers, insects--you name it and our dauntless artist/naturalists have explored it!

Keep coming back--sign up to follow the blog or book mark it.  You won't be sorry!  More artists to come, in more locales all over the world. Find us at http://naturesketchers.blogspot.com/

Sorry that you are having email troubles, but you will be happy to know that some of us ARE getting it on our email. Your #88 TIPS and Gabi's interview DID come in on my gmail, some days ago. It also just showed up on my Google Reader (where I have subscribed to this QUICKSILVER blog).

As I keep saying, our machines are really androids out to overtake our world.
