Omigosh, Danny Gregory's new book just arrived! Christmas came early...

An Illustrated Life: Drawing Inspiration from the Private Sketchbooks of Artists, Illustrators and Designers

...and I couldn't be more delighted!  It's HUGE, 266 pages full of inspiration and delight, beautifully designed and conceived--Danny, you've done it again!

This is from HOW Books, one of F & W Publications' imprints, and it shows their usual professionalism and dedication.  I can't wait till I have time to sit and delight in every page!  There's a great deal to read, as well, about how the artists felt and thought and how they work.  This one will be a winner!

So many names I know, represented here--France Belleville, Enrique Flores, Rama Hughes, Amanda Kavanagh, Jane LaFazio, Paul Madonna, Roz Stendahl and SO many more--far too many to list, and congratulations to all.

A very poignant entry is near the end--I just reached that place, as I write.  It belongs to Cindy Woods, who passed away from cancer earlier this week after a long and courageous battle. I have a lump in my throat seeing her work again, and I find myself so wishing she had been able to see it here as well.  Friends like my dear Laura Frankstone who knew her in person tell me that she was passionate about her art, and it shows.

You did well, Cindy, it's touching and honest and brilliant, as always.

Can't wait to have a copy of my own. I've been listening to the podcast and getting more excited by the day.
It really is beautifully done. So many different artists and styles and approaches...
It is on my Christmas List!
I'm not surprised, Bruce, I think you'll like it!
Cindy DID see her drawings in the book. Danny got the publisher to rush her the very first copy after he learned of her situation. He posted about it on his site.

I got a notice today that mine is one the way. Can't wait!
I missed that! I am SO grateful...thank you for the heads up!
Bizarre! That pictur is me, and I got the LJ notifications. Username denimskater.
Maybe since LJ's move they're still sorting things out!
Weird! That picture is NOT me!
Thank happened to another friend recently! Not the icon she posted, not even one of hers...lj's HAS been a bit weird lately!

I'm so happy for you and all the other wonderful artists represented in this book. I ordered my copy just after reading this post last night. I can imagine how you felt coming across Cin's drawings. It's so hard to take in that we won't be able to talk with her or write back and forth anymore. I'm grateful that we'll still have her drawings and, therefore, especially grateful for her inclusion in this book.
Hi sweet thing...I was SO glad to see that she did get to hold the book in her hands. Thank you Danny!

I hope you enjoy the book, it is gorgeous...

An Illustrated Life

Hi Kate, I just got my copy yesterday too. And like you, I can't wait to sit down and savor every page--it's fabulous isn't it??
Jane LaFazio

Just GORGEOUS. As you know, I love your work, Jane, and it was such a treat seeing it in the book...
