Gearing up for the journalling class...

...and I'm reminded of some of my favorite books on the subject! Danny Gregory's latest is a compilation of work by a lot of different journal keepers...I'm delighted to be included. If you haven't seen it, do check it out...you can click on the link below (not the graphic, sorry) and do the "look within" function on Amazon.

An Illustrated Life: Drawing Inspiration from the Private Sketchbooks of Artists, Illustrators and Designers

My longtime favorite, and one I still recommend to my students, is my friend and fellow journal keeper, Hannah Hinchman's first--
A Life In Hand: Creating the Illuminated Journal.  This small, mostly black and white book is FULL of ideas and encouragement, beautifully written and illustrated.  Truthfully, it changed the way I kept my journal, helping me to integrate my life rather than compartmentalize it and consign it to 6 different books.

Before, I'd had a journal, a sketchbook, an organizer, a note pad, a place for grocery lists, a steno pad for minutes of meetings--and I could never lay hands on the one I needed, quickly!  Now, my journal contains all of this, for the most part, and it's always to hand.

Someday I'll even figure out how to index it, as some artists do, to find what I need again, quickly.  But...I'm not holding my breath.  Too much going on NOW...
