Yesterday's sketchcrawl--

turned out to be a LOT of fun! I was sorry that most of our regulars couldn't make it, for one reason or another--after I got home I retrieved a message from Christiana saying she'd gotten stuck in the next town, so even my most regular regular couldn't be there!

But it was delightful, anyway...Steve of Liquid Chroma on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/liquidchroma-/ came over from St. Louis, and Dena drove from Prairie Village, so we were a group of complete strangers when we started, and friends by the time we finished, 3 hours later. What lovely people!

And lovely work, too...be sure to click on Steve's Flickr address to see his rendition of the old stone stairs behind the Historic Elms Hotel, built in 1908--it's 100 years old this month, and it has matured beautifully!

I painted the little rapids where there used to be a footbridge a few dozen floods ago...I painted that same spot 20 years before, when I used to give workshops there, and it still fascinates and delights me!

This is the scene as my camera saw it, after I finished the painting--it can't see into shadows like I can!

The subject...

I'm sorry we ran out of time...there is so much more to sketch on the grounds. But we'll be back...
