Christmas Day Journal Pages

This was one of my loveliest presents--a ride through snowy country and a chance to paint. It was cold out, but inside the Jeep with the sun pouring through the windows and the shared body heat, it was plenty warm enough to paint. Joseph napped while I worked...sweet companionable silence...

Girl, that's just the tip of the iceberg. You have no idea! He's a prize...
Thank you, Vicky! It is a pleasure, just pleasing him.

And he does the most amazing things that touch my heart...it's the small ones that really get me. Last night I said I was going to go get a load out of the dryer and put the one in the washer in to dry. He insisted on coming with me, then said he'd do the one in the washer, because it was heavier and he didn't want me to lift it.

I have never in my LIFE had anyone be so considerate to me. Just absolutely humbling. (I burst into tears in the workroom!)

Companionable silence

There is a lot to be said for companionable silence. Of course Thoreau said that he never found a companion more companionable than solitude. I can agree with that too.

Re: Companionable silence

Yes, Pablo, it's amazing being able to be quiet with another person, almost as comfortable as with your own thoughts. (I'm a bit of a hermit, and have never been one to seek out the crowd because I didn't like being alone. I do, I like it just fine! And now I like being alone with my husband...)

Thoreau was wise about a number of things, yes!
