My Cousin's Back Yard

My Cousin's Back Yard
It's still lovely out in the mornings, and I'm still fish and plant sitting, so took my paints with me again this morning. My oldest friend is married to my cousin, and she painted the wonderful birdhouse...

Someone gave them the colorful prayer flags; it was fun trying to capture all this color in a shady, dappled morning...

Unfortunately I remembered this is trash day and I hadn't gotten the big 55-gallon trash can out last night, so I had to quit and run home...that was 2 hours ago and they're not here yet. <:-)

Oh, Kate, I don't know why this little scene affects me so, but it does. It's painted so tenderly, the colors are so luminous--it's a tiny painted refuge.
I love it, dear heart.

It IS a beautiful place...there's a stone bench to sit on, right by the fish pond, on a bluff overlooking the vegetable garden...I've loved it for 30 years, and it just keeps getting more affective.

Today my cousin and my old friend are home from the mountains, and she told me my paintings look better than their garden...but it's not so.

Thank you, sweet Xoxa, for your kind words, as always...
