Greensburg tornado

One of my friends in Kansas sent me this sobering and unbelievable link to the Greensburg tornado that claimed a town and so far, 10 lives: http://www.kansas.com/static/slides/050507tornadoaerials/

Thank God he and my other Kansas friends are all safe...

Being flat, much of the state anyway, there's nothing to stop or deflect the wind...that's very clear in these pictures.  How on earth the grain elevator survived, I don't know, except that round is a very stable form, architecturally.  Not much comfort to all those people who are now homeless.

The American Red Cross is taking donations, both in funds and goods.  I found their website here: http://american.redcross.org/

and the Salvation Army here: http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usn/www_usn.nsf

As usual, both these organizations are doing all they can to help with disaster relief.  Food, water, medicine, clothing, shelter, comfort...these are amazing people...
